Evan Babins is an event project manager at C2 International, a role he took on in April. Based in Toronto, he previously served as marketing and virtual events manager of Equitable Bank and is an active member of ILEA Toronto.

How he got his start: "I started in the industry as a professional DJ, which led into private event production."

Biggest lesson from the last year: "Navigating the pandemic is not like anything I have ever done. I was fortunate that I got my start in virtual events back in 2017 (before it was the 'cool thing' to do). As such, when the rise of virtual events was happening overnight, my team and I were quick to adapt as there wasn't a large learning curve due to my experience.

The biggest thing the last year has taught me is what you think you can control, you have no control over. In a live event scenario, we have more control over the aspects of the event, while in a virtual or even hybrid setting that control is completely removed."

Career goals: "To keep producing engaging events and be part of great teams working with fantastic clients. I'd love to be the event producer for the NHL All-Star Weekend—that's the dream!"

Advice for his peers: "Keep moving forward. Take everything you do in stride. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't accomplish. Ask as many questions as you can to as many people as you can."
