Tanesha Moody is the senior manager of global corporate events for Under Armour, where she's been responsible for implementing the sports equipment brand's global corporate event marketing strategy since February 2020. She's based in Washington, D.C.

How she got her start: "My professional career started in the professional theater realm as a stage manager and company manager. Having the opportunity to stage-manage shows—which involved calling cues, running rehearsals and meetings, and creative problem-solving when elements didn’t go as planned—set me up for success as I transitioned into the events industry.

As a production specialist at Walt Disney Company’s Disney Event Group, it was a chance to apply the skill set I obtained as a theater artist within the event industry. Creating immersive experiences that aligned with clients’ goals at Disney, managing a team of AV professionals at PSAV (now Encore), driving hotel revenue through ICE’s holiday experience at the Gaylord National, and positioning the Newseum as a top venue destination in D.C. has facilitated in providing a unique perspective into the events industry that I apply in my current role at Under Armour."

Biggest lesson from the last year: "Navigating the pandemic within the events industry has been interesting. I feel as if I’ve simultaneously learned more about myself personally and career-wise. I appreciated the reminder to take some time for myself (in the form of wine and cuddling with my cat!). In addition, the pandemic has reinforced the importance of captivating audiences and ensuring they are at the center of an event experience. I’m looking forward to applying the data and trends captured throughout this time to hybrid and in-person events."

Career goals: "My No. 1 goal for my career is to inspire others to become the best version of themselves. In most roles, I’ve had the privilege to manage and lead a team. However, playing a small role in seeing those individuals step into their fullest potential, accomplish their goals and succeed is the most fulfilling part of my career journey."

In her free time: Moody works as a mentor for Baltimore Public Schools.

Advice for his peers: "Fail full out. As a dancer, during rehearsals, our teacher would let us know when it was time to switch from 'marking' the routine—going through the steps—versus 'dancing full out'—performing the combination with full performance-ready energy and effort. I encourage others to fail full out and don’t fear! Because failing results in learning, which allows us all to grow."
