US: A Virtual Floral-Arranging Workshop, the New Exhibitions and Conferences Alliance, Outside Lands Plans a Halloween Edition and More

NATIONAL: Hotelier Ian Schrager has pledged $1 million to the Arne M. Sorenson Hospitality Fund, which was established by Marriott International to honor the legacy of the company’s late president and CEO. The donation will help support the Marriott-Sorenson Center for Hospitality Leadership, which will be housed within the Howard University School of Business in Washington, D.C.

Zoom & Bloom, a new virtual floral-arranging workshop, is launching three virtual classes—one centered around Passover on March 25, a second for Easter on April 3 and a third for Mother’s Day on May 8. Flowers, containers and tools can be delivered to guests in advance, and participants will tune into personalized live instructions from a top event florist. 

The Exhibitions and Conferences Alliance (ECA), a newly formed advocacy group dedicated to the recovery and advancement of the face-to-face business event industry, has named several members to its board of directors. HervĂ© Sedky, CEO of EmeraldX, will serve as chair of the board, while Megan Tanel, SVP of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, will serve as vice chair and Bob Priest-Heck, CEO of Freeman, will be secretary and treasurer. 

LOS ANGELES: The Petersen Automotive Museum will reopen to the public March 25 with new exhibits and cars. The museum will give verified health care workers and first responders complimentary admission for themselves and up to three immediate family members for the rest of 2021. Tickets must be prepurchased, and masks and social distancing are required.

SAN FRANCISCO: Festival producers Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly and Starr Hill Presents have announced that Outside Lands will shift from August to October 29-31, 2021. The special Halloween edition will take place at Golden Gate Park and feature performances from Lizzo, Tame Impala, The Strokes and more.
