CANADA: The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Is Back, First Fridays Food Festival Kicks Off In September and More

NATIONAL: The Event Depot, a curated marketplace by event professionals for event professionals, launched last week. Founded by 20-year industry veteran Jordan Kaye of Analog Events, The Event Depot offers four curated, full-service kits, priced from $375-$750, designed to provide simple solutions for event pros. The kits are themed specifically for wedding planners, event producers, social planners or meeting planners.

EDMONTON: The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra kicked off its Simple Symphony Under the Sky concert series on Aug. 26. Running through Sept. 5 at Hawrelak Park’s amphitheater, the outdoor concert series has been expanded from its typical five-day event to allow for repeated performances for smaller audiences. It marks the first time the entire orchestra has been back together during the pandemic.

DARK, an immersive experience filled with characters like killer clowns and bloodthirsty demons, will take over Fort Edmonton Park from Oct. 7-31. Tickets cost $45 and are available now.

MONTREAL: First Fridays, billed as Canada’s biggest street food event, is returning to Olympic Park for six days from Sept. 3-5 and Oct. 1-3. The event is expected to draw more than 50 food trucks and restaurants, including two Portuguese wine bars, a 200-seat SAQ zone, beer and cocktail trucks, DJs and more. The free event will follow all COVID-19 safety protocols.

VANCOUVER: The Neighbourhood Patio, a new pop-up event in downtown Vancouver, kicks off Sept. 10 on the newly renovated plaza by Three Bentall Centre. The gathering will showcase the city’s art and music community through installations and live performances; there will also be local beer and natural wines to purchase, as well as food trucks with reservable tables. A portion of drinks sold will be donated to Creative BC.
