LOS ANGELES—Create & Cultivate celebrated its sixth annual Create & Cultivate 100 List with an intimate event at City Market Social House in Los Angeles on March 2. In partnership with Chevrolet, the media company recognized 100 women across 10 different categories who “push culture forward, change the narrative and rewrite the business playbook.”
This year’s list included Lolo Spencer, actress and disability advocate; Christina Milian, singer and co-founder of Beignet Box; Telva McGruder, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at General Motors; Kamie Crawford, host of MTV’s Catfish; Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan, reality TV stars of Selling Sunset; Pia Baroncini, creative director and founder of LPA; Christa B. Allen, actress; Cleopatra Lee, fitness enthusiast; and others.
During the event, McGruder spoke “about GM’s commitment to becoming the most inclusive company out there. Chevrolet continues to innovate in the space and push boundaries, making them the perfect partner for this event,” said Jaclyn Johnson, founder and CEO of Create & Cultivate, adding that this was the fifth year that the auto brand had partnered with the media company to present the list.
Johnson also explained that the indoor-outdoor venue’s garage doors allowed organizers to easily showcase Chevrolet vehicles, in addition to multiple activations and Instagrammable moments. Inside one of the vehicles, a palm reader was available to offer readings to attendees.
Plus, in addition to the traditional categories such as beauty, health and wellness, and music and entertainment, Chevrolet presented "Find New Roads," which was described as “these trailblazing women identified opportunities for change and used their unique talents to pave new roads and their destinations have redefined possibilities for future generations to follow suit.”
"General Motors and Chevrolet are honored to celebrate dynamic women redefining the workplace and the world through our sponsorship of the Create & Cultivate 100 event," McGruder told BizBash. "For the past six years, Chevrolet has collaborated with Create & Cultivate to recognize these women in an evening characterized by bright minds, innovative vehicles and colorful conversation."
Known for hosting conferences that are open to the public throughout the year, this celebration was one of Create & Cultivate's few invite-only, red carpet events.
Organizers also integrated products from several of the honorees—including Calirosa tequila, Partake cookies, Droplet sparkling beverages and Kin Euphorics—into the event’s F&B plans. “Showcasing and serving what these women have created at an event celebrating them, their businesses and these very creations brings everything full circle—not to mention, fellow attendees could not stop raving about it!” said Samantha Ouellette, senior vice president of operations and brand experience for Create & Cultivate.
This year’s gift bags were packed with 30-plus items (many of which were from the honorees’ businesses), ranging from beauty, wellness, tech and lifestyle products to clothing and accessories, as well as gift cards and exclusive discounts.
